Takeaway: God is at work even when we don’t see Him.
“Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” — 2 Kings 6:17
Opening Prayer
Lord God, I come before You with a heart ready to receive Your truth. Fill this time with Your presence and open my eyes to see You more clearly. Strengthen my faith, refine my heart, and guide my steps according to Your will. May this devotion draw me closer to You and deepen my trust in Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection
Fear often takes hold when we focus only on what we can see with our physical eyes. The challenges before us seem overwhelming, the obstacles insurmountable, and the enemy stronger than we can handle. That was the case for Elisha’s servant in 2 Kings 6. He woke up to see an army surrounding their city, and panic set in. But Elisha responded differently. He saw the unseen. “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.”
The physical enemy was real, but a greater spiritual reality was at work. Like Elisha’s servant, we often struggle to see beyond our circumstances. We feel trapped by financial burdens, relationship struggles, health concerns, or uncertainty about the future. But just because we don’t see God at work doesn’t mean He isn’t. His presence surrounds us, His hand is guiding us, and His power is greater than anything we face.
Faith is not ignoring reality—it is trusting that there is more to reality than what we can see.
Question
How might God be working behind the scenes in ways you can’t see?
Application
• Look for God’s Hand in Everyday Life. Pay attention to small ways God is moving—answered prayers, unexpected provision, moments of peace, or encouragement from others.
• Surround Yourself with Faith-Filled People. Spend time with those who encourage you to see with faith rather than fear.
• Keep a Journal of God’s Faithfulness. Write down moments when God provided, protected, or guided you in ways you didn’t expect.
Closing Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to see beyond my circumstances. When fear and doubt creep in, help me trust that You are at work, even when I don’t see it. Give me faith to believe in Your power, Your protection, and Your presence in every situation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
